About the Sprague/Appleway Revitalization Plan

The City of Spokane Valley places a very high priority on the revitalization of the Sprague-Appleway corridor. This spring, the City hired a consultant team to engage the community in developing a strategic plan to re-shape the corridor into a thriving commercial and residential district. This team, including ECONorthwest, Friedman, Tung and Bottomley, Glatting-Jackson, and Studio Cascade, are working in concert with the City to involve the public in producing an exciting, achievable corridor plan.

The City's new Comprehensive Plan, adopted in April, calls for the creation of a town center on Sprague Avenue. It also calls for a mix of residential and commercial land uses along the corridor, allowing residents to walk to shops, jobs and other typical daily destinations. The Sprague/Appleway Revitalization Plan is intended to achieve that vision.

Scott Kuhta, AICP, is the City’s lead planner on the project. “We’ve been looking forward to having an integrated strategy to guide reinvestment on the corridor,” he says. “This is a very important time for our City, and we hope the community gets involved to help shape this plan.” The project will include public meetings, mailings, e-mail newsletters, informal questionnaires and exercises, and a project website to enable residents to keep track of the entire process, according to Kuhta.

This project website is provided for the use of residents of Spokane Valley, Washington, to learn about and participate in the Sprague/Appleway Revitalization Plan process. This site, including all documents and postings, will be archived and made part of the public record and conveyed to the City of Spokane Valley at the end of the process.
